Phyllis K. Meese, 80, Oblong, IL passed away on Wednesday May 20, 2020 at 10:12 a.m. at Crawford Memorial Hospital, Robinson, IL.
She was born in Crawford County, IL on September 22, 1939. Phyllis was the daughter of Raymond and Pauline (Kirk) Musgrave. On December 28, 1956 she married John R. Meese.
Phyllis worked at the Pottery in Robinson, IL, the Index Store in Oblong, IL and the Newline Shop in Robinson, IL. She graduated from Oblong High School in 1957, grew up in the White Oak Church and later became a member of Dogwood Methodist Church. Phyllis was a member of the Sunbeams Home Extension in Oblong.
She is survived by her husband John R. Meese, Oblong, IL; three sons and daughters-in-law Darrell and Connie Meese, Oblong, IL, David Meese, Evansville, IN and Randy and Beth Meese, Robinson, IL; daughter and son-in-law Connie J and David Stofleth, Evansville, IN; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law Lawrence “Buck” And Carolee Musgrave, Oblong, IL; brother-in-law and sister-in-law George and Penny Meese, Robinson, IL; sisters-in-law Lola Piersall, Robinson, IL, Dorothy Ness, Robinson, IL and Kathy Meese, Oblong, IL as well as several nieces and nephews.
Preceding Phyllis in death were her parents; brothers Darrell and Doyt Musgrave; and sister Betty Musgrave
Public visitation will be Friday May 22, 2020 from 5–7 p.m. at Pulliam Funeral Home 302 E. Main Street Oblong, IL. Under the guidelines of the CDC and the State of Illinois for COVID-19 social distancing will be enforced. The family requests that anyone attending MUST WEAR A MASK while in the building. There will be no gathering, touching or handshaking of individuals during the visitation.
There will be a private family Celebration of Phyllis’s Life and burial will be in White Oak Cemetery. An expression of sympathy may take the form of a contribution to either Dogwood Prairie Methodist Church or Oblong School Academic Foundation.
