Robinson boys' tennis team finishes third at Little Illini Conference Meet
All four entries for Robinson High School's boys' tennis team won at least two matches Saturday, helping the Maroons to a third-place finish at the Little Illini Conference Meet in Paris in less than ideal conditions.

"It was really bad conditions to play tennis," RHS head coach Tom Buchanan said. "Temperatures were in the 50s with 20-plus mile per hour crosswinds. The wind could move the ball two feet off its trajectory on hard-hit balls and even more on slower balls. It was a day you had to stay mentally tough and we did a good job staying focused."

Short-handed RHS boys' tennis team loses match at Matoon, 8-1
Being short-handed proved costly for Robinson High School's boys' tennis team Tuesday.

The Maroons were without several of their regular players and it showed in the results, as they lost at Mattoon, 8-1.

"We were a little short handed tonight," RHS head coach Tom Buchanan said. "With the band and chorus concerts tonight, we were missing over half the team. However, it gave a few players a chance to get in varsity action. Lukas (Baird) and Lucas (Blunier) each played their first singles matches of the season - they are usually in the doubles lineup. It took each of them a bit to get comfortable on the singles court, but they played well. We played well at times during doubles, but could not stay consistent enough to win a set."
