Lady Maroons outlast Lady Tigers in 3
 | It was a typical battle between two county rivals Tuesday night in the Robinson High School gym.
Robinson and Hutsonville-Palestine's volleyball teams traded shot after shot like they were in a heavyweight boxing match. Tuesday night's contest went the distance, and when the dust settled, the host Lady Maroons came out on top with a three-set victory in the season opener for both teams.
"We were very happy to get out with a win tonight," RHS head coach Eric Dean said. "We knew that Hutsonville was going to be scrappy and make us earn everything. Jolene (Crippes-Callaway) does a great job getting them ready to play every year. They just never give up."

After the two teams split six singles matches, it came down to doubles play. All three doubles contests went three sets, but Robinson was able to pull out victories in two of them to claim the match.
"We had a very hard fought match," RHS head coach John Ireland said. "Many matches went into three sets and were also determined by tie breakers. Everyone was on edge down the final match of the evening. The ladies played tough and stayed in their matches until the very end. We gained much experience and were placed in some tough situations. You have to give the players credit for giving it their all."
