Lady Statesmen win pair to end trip
A strong finish to their annual Spring Trip saw Lincoln Trail College's softball team win a pair of games on their final day Friday (March 10).

The Lady Statesmen scored wins over Chesapeake (10-6) and Anoka Ramsey (12-0) to end their Florida trip with a 6-2 mark.

Statesmen split twinbill with Rend Lake
Two close games ended with one falling on each side of the ledger for Lincoln Trail College's baseball team Thursday (March 9).

In their first Great Rivers Athletic Conference series of the season, the Statesmen split a doubleheader at Rend Lake, winning the first game 6-5 and losing the second 5-3.

Lady Statesmen split doubleheader with Spoon River on Florida trip
A mix of good and bad resulted in a split for Lincoln Trail College's softball team in their doubleheader with Spoon River Community College Thursday (March 9) in Florida.

The Lady Statesmen scuffled in a 13-5 loss in game one, but rebounded to pick up a 7-4 victory in game two.

Wins and losses were alternated for Lincoln Trail College's baseball team in their four games at Millington, Tenn., over the weekend.

The Statesmen won a pair of low-scoring contests, while suffered losses in two high-scoring affairs.

Statesmen drop District 16 opening round game to Lake Land, 103-67
It was a rough end to the season for Lincoln Trail College's men's basketball team Monday night (March 6).

The ninth-seeded Statesmen opened NJCAA District 16 Tournament play on the road against eighth-seeded Lake Land and were handed a 103-67 loss.

Maroons fall short to Mt. Carmel, 54-49
Some nights the shots don't fall like they normally do and you don't get some calls you feel like you should've gotten.

That was the fate suffered by Robinson High School's boys' basketball team Friday night (March 3), as they fell just short in the championship game of the IHSA Class 2A West Frankfort Sectional to Mt. Carmel, 54-49.

"We had some pretty good looks and got shots we want our guys to take," RHS head coach Mack Thompson said. "We just didn't hit them tonight."

The Statesmen dug themselves a hole they could not climb out of in an 89-79 loss in the regular season finale at Olney Central College Friday night (March 3).

The season came to a disappointing and abrupt end for Lincoln Trail College's women's basketball team Friday night (March 3).

An early deficit was too much for the Lady Statesmen to overcome, as they dropped a Great Rivers Athletic Conference contest at Olney Central College, 73-58.

Maroons hold off Eldorado for 49-44 win
It's not always pretty with Robinson High School's basketball team and that is just fine with them.

The Maroons may not have played their best game Tuesday night (Feb. 28), but they found a way to survive and advance, which is the most important thing this time of year.

Robinson held off a couple of charges from a solid Eldorado team to pick up a 49-44 victory in the semifinals of the IHSA Class 2A West Frankfort Sectional.

"I'm really proud of the kids," RHS head coach Mack Thompson said. "The guys know how to fight and every time Eldorado would fight back, we would fight right back."

Statesmen hang on to beat Lewis & Clark, 78-75
Balanced scoring got Lincoln Trail College's men's basketball team back in the win column Tuesday night (Feb. 28), as the Statesmen snapped a seven-game losing skid with a 78-75 win over Lewis & Clark Community College on Sophomore Night.
