While spring sports are currently on hold across the country, Lincoln Trail College's golf team was able to kick off their season earlier this month.
The Statesmen spent a week in South Carolina recently to play in some non-scoring events, then returned home to take part in a three-team meet in Tuscola March 10.
Lincoln Trail came in second in the meet with a team score of 328, while Danville Area Community College won with a score of 325 and Illinois Valley Community College finished third with a 341.
Seth Kestranek led LTC, as he shared medalist honors with IVCC's Clay Wells with a round of 77.
Also scoring for the Statesmen were Wade Ruth with an 81, Dylan Buenker with an 83 and Brayden Peterson with an 87. Jordan Hosick's round of 90 was not included in the team score, nor was former Robinson High School player Takoda Wheeler's round of 79 while competing as an individual.
Lincoln Trail unfortunately will not get to play again this season, as the NJCAA cancelled the remaining schedules for all spring sports Monday amid growing concerns regarding the COVID-19 pandemic.
