Lincoln Trail College's men's basketball team continues to play close games, but the Statesmen continue to search for ways to get in the win column.

The Statesmen dropped their third straight game Wednesday night, with all three of them being decided by a combined 13 points. The latest defeat came at the hands of rival Wabash Valley College, as the nipped LTC, 82-78, in a Great Rivers Athletic Conference contest.

Lincoln Trail found themselves down 48-41 at halftime, but hung around the entire second half and got as close as two points, 72-70, with just over two minutes remaining. However, Wabash Valley responded with five straight points to make the score 77-70 with 49 seconds left.

A layup by Alex Heath with 37.9 seconds to play made the score 77-72, then after a free throw by Wabash Valley, Heath scored again to close the gap to 78-74 with 21 seconds left. After two more Wabash Valley free throws, Heath scored again to make the score 80-76 with 9.2 seconds remaining. Then, Eric Moenkhaus would steal the inbounds pass and got the ball to Lamar Lillard, who fed Dante Combs for a layup to pull LTC to within 80-78 with 5.3 seconds left. However, Wabash Valley's Tony Burks followed with a pair of free throws to seal the win for the Warriors.

Heath led three players in double figures for LTC with 21 points, while Ahmad Price posted 15. Combs scored 14 points, Meeko Bond netted eight, J.J. Reed tossed in six, Lillard and Moenkhaus contributed five points apiece, Tobias Thompson added three and Tad Kapek had one.

Burks led four players in double figures for Wabash Valley with 23 points, while Amir Yusuf posted 16 points and Raekwon Drake and Bobby Harvey scored 11 points apiece.
