One final tune-up prior to the postseason netted mixed results for Robinson High School's cross country teams.
Robinson competed in a multi-team meet at Newton Tuesday (Oct. 22), coming away with a win in the boys' meet and finishing third in the girls' meet.
In the boys' meet, Robinson finished first with 22 points, while Mt. Carmel was second with 44 and Olney third with 54. Newton, Hutsonville-Palestine and Flora also had runners compete, but they did not have enough to post a team score.
Top finisher for RHS was Maverick Wright in fourth out of 32 runners with a time of 17:13, while Parker Middleton was fifth with the same time. Also scoring for the Maroons were Zach Buttolph in eighth with a time of 17:28, Cameron Shew in ninth with a time of 17:29 and Carter Shew in 11th in 17:33.
Hutsonville-Palestine had just four runners compete, with top finisher being Travis Rinard in 17th with a time of 18:03. Blake Knoblett finished 27th in 19:29, Jacob Pickering was 28th in 19:34 and Blaine Beabout was 29th in 19:57.
In the girls' meet, Robinson placed three girls in the top-10, but still finished third. Olney won the meet with 26 points, while Newton was second with 43 and the Lady Maroons third with 51.
Top finisher for RHS was Leighanna Hamilton in seventh out of 29 runners with a time of 19:42, while Macy Sutfin finished eighth in 20:08 and Madi Staley was ninth in 20:29. Also scoring were Stevee Walker in 12th in 20:46 and Julia Gallion in 17th in 22:10.
