Lady Statesmen beat Kaskaskia in four
Sports Editor

Winning at the net proved to be the difference for Lincoln Trail College's volleyball team Monday night (Oct. 21).

The Lady Statesmen put together another solid effort, especially at the net, and it resulted in a four-set win over visiting Kaskaskia, 27-29, 25-20, 25-20, 25-20.

"Although our serving was a little off tonight (15 missed serves), we made up for it at the net," LTC head coach Dana Goodwin said. "Our hitting and our blocking were our weapons tonight."

Tori Combs led the Lady Statesmen with 16 blocks, 12 kills, two aces and two digs, while Mackenzie Rinehart totaled 40 assists, 11 digs, one ace, one block and one kill. Souadou Bangoura contributed 16 kills, one block and one dig, Jazmyn Rodriguez recorded 10 digs, nine kills, one ace and one block, Myriah Warner collected 18 digs and one ace, J'Amy Jackson posted nine kills and one block and Leyah Logan recorded 11 assists.

"Tori put up a wall with 12 solo blocks and four assisted blocks and the girls were hitting around the block and through the split," Goodwin said. "Hopefully we can continue this consistency into Wednesday's game."
