Maroons fall to West Vigo, Ind., 4-1

That was not good news for Robinson High School's baseball team, as they dropped a 4-1 decision at West Vigo, Ind.
Robinson broke a scoreless tie in the top of the third, when Landon Roy single to play Elliott Stifle for a 1-0 lead. However, West Vigo responded with three runs in the bottom of the inning to take the lead for good, then tacked on an insurance run in the fifth.
Roy led RHS at the plate with a single and a run batted in, while Stifle singled and scored a run, Logan Sexton doubled and Levi Hodge added a base hit.
Brayden Childress took the loss on the mound, allowing three runs (two earned) on three hits, while walking one and striking out seven in three innings. Stifle went the rest of the way, giving up a run on three hits and striking out four in three innings of relief.
In a junior varsity game that preceded the varsity contest, Robinson came out on the wrong end of a 10-0 decision.
Riley Simpson, Wylie Bonnell, Wrigley Young and Levi Dickerson had a single apiece for RHS.
Chris Jones was tagged with the loss, giving up two runs (one earned) on four hits, while walking one and striking out eight in four innings. Ryder O'Neal allowed eight runs (five earned) on six hits, while walking one and striking out one in one-plus innings of work.
