Short-handed Maroons down Olney, 5-1
| Conditions weren't ideal and Robinson High School's baseball team wasn't at full strength, but the Maroons were still able to pick up another win Wednesday (May 1).|
Playing through rain off and on throughout the game and being down a couple of starters didn't deter Robinson, as they scored a 5-1 victory over Olney in a non-conference contest at Robinson City Park.
Robinson opened the scoring with a run in the first, then Olney plated a run in the top of the fourth to tie the game. The Maroons answered, scoring twice in the bottom half to take a 3-1 lead, then Robinson tacked on two more runs in the sixth to seal the win.
Logan Sexton led RHS with a solo home run and a single, while Brayden Childress also smacked a solo home run. Cole Johnson posted a base hit, a run batted in and a run scored, Ethan Shidler singled and scored a run, Isaac Buchanan added a base hit and Riley Simpson scored a run.
Levi Hodge went the distance on the mound to earn the win, allowing one run on five hits, while walking four and striking out four in seven innings.
The Maroons played without starting center fielder Landon Roy, who was participating the conference track meet and starting catcher Tyler Weber, who is nursing an ankle injury.
