Maroons pull away from Lawrenceville for 11-3 LIC win
| Nine runs in the span of two at-bats helped Robinson High School's baseball team erase an early deficit and stay perfect in Little Illini Conference play.|
The Maroons also snapped a two-game losing skid with an 11-3 victory at Lawrenceville Monday (April 29).
Robinson had to come from behind, as Lawrenceville scored single runs in the first and second to take an early 2-0 lead. However, the Maroons responded with a five-run third inning to take the lead for good, then plated four runs in the fourth to make the score 9-2. Robinson tacked on a pair of runs in the seventh, while Lawrenceville got one back in the bottom of the seventh to complete the scoring.
Kade Lassen led RHS at the plate with two singles, two runs scored and a run batted in, while Brayden Childress singled twice, knocked in two runs and scored a run, Levi Hodge singled, drove in two runs and scored a run, Tyler Weber added a base hit and two runs batted in, Elliott Stifle singled and scored twice, Cade Slaughter singled and knocked in a run, Dayton Thurman singled and scored a run, Landon Roy drove in two runs and scored a run, Ethan Shidler scored two runs and Isaac Buchanan scored a run.
Slaughter earned the win on the mound, allowing two runs on three hits, while walking two and striking out three in three innings. Roy gave up two hits and struck out three in three scoreless innings of work and Stifle allowed an unearned run and struck out one in an inning of relief.
