Just 24 hours after being swept in a doubleheader, Lincoln Trail College's baseball team turned the tables in their favor.

The Statesmen rebounded from a doubleheader loss at Southwestern Illinois Monday (April 1) by sweeping a doubleheader at home from Frontier Community College Tuesday (April 2).

Lincoln Trail rolled to a 16-5 win in game one of the twinbill, then scored a 9-5 victory in the nightcap to complete the sweep.

In game one, LTC led 4-1 after one inning, then scored four more runs in the second for an 8-1 advantage. After Frontier plated a run in the third, the Statesmen came back with eight in the fourth to make the score 16-2. Frontier pushed across two runs in the fifth and another in the seventh, but could not keep the game from ending via the 10-run rule.

Bryson Bloomer led the offense for LTC with a home run, two singles, five runs batted in and three runs scored, while Christian Bault doubled, singled twice, knocked in three runs and scored a pair of runs. Bryant Shellenbarger singled twice, drove in four runs and scored a run, Noah Reed doubled twice, knocked in a run and scored a run, Roy Thurman tripled, scored three runs and drove in a pair of runs, Jack Gallagher and T.J. Janahashi posted a base hit and two runs scored apiece, John Kehoe added a base hit and a run scored, Jon McGee singled and Carter Poiry scored a run.

Dalton Laney earned the win on the mound, allowing four runs (one earned) on three hits, while walking one and striking out nine in five innings. Adam Kopff went the rest of the way, giving up a run on three hits and striking out two in two innings of relief.

In game two, LTC again jumped out to a big lead early, as they scored seven runs in the bottom of the first after giving up one in the top half to take a lead they would not relinquish. Frontier rallied with a run in the third and three in the fourth to pull within 7-5, but the Statesmen tacked on insurance runs in the fourth and sixth to secure the victory and complete the sweep.

Carter Poiry led LTC at the plate with two singles, a run batted in and a run scored, while Rutger Poiry doubled, knocked in two runs and scored a run. Bault doubled, drove in a run and scored a run, Janahashi doubled and scored a run, Shellenbarger added a base hit and a run batted in, Kehoe knocked in a run and scored a run, Gallagher scored two runs, Bloomer drove in a run and Thurman and Nick Rodriguez each scored a run.

Mitchell Spencer picked up the win on the mound, allowing five runs on six hits, while walking three and striking out four in three and two-thirds innings. Wyatt Joy went the rest of the way, allowing one hit, walking one and striking out three in three and one-third scoreless innings to earn a save.
