Rain shortened Robinson High School's girls' tennis team's home match Thursday night (Sept. 6), but it did not put a damper on a dominating performance.
The Lady Maroons rolled to the rain-shortened win over Mt. Carmel, 6-0, as the match was called following the conclusion of singles play.
All six wins for RHS came in straight sets, with none of the opponents winning more than five points in any match.
"Mt. Carmel has a young team and are rebuilding their program," RHS head coach Steve Jenkins said. "When playing a team of lesser experience it is easy to let up, but our girls came out strong in the beginning of singles play and didn't let up."
Emma Goodman picked up a win at No. 1 over Kendall (6-2, 6-1), while Andrea Schalburg won at No. 2 over Halbig (6-1, 6-3). At No. 3, Mia Hargis rolled to a win over Berberich (6-0, 6-2), while Sarah Staller won at No. 4 over Schoon (6-4, 6-1), Alysha Clements won at No. 5 over Schroeder (6-4, 6-1) and Destanee Liston beat Betsch at No. 6 (6-1, 6-1).
Robinson also won the only junior varsity match that was played, as Reese Stewart and Alana Herr teamed up for the victory.
