Conference play was the cure for what had been ailing Robinson High School's baseball team.

After dropping three straight non-conference games last week, the Maroons got back on the winning track Monday (May 7) with a 14-4 whipping of Flora in a Little Illini Conference contest.

Robinson grabbed an early lead with two runs in the first inning, then broke the game wide open with a seven-run third innings. The Maroons tacked on another run in the fourth for a 10-0 advantage before Flora plated a pair of runs in the bottom of the inning to make the score 10-2. Robinson added four more runs in the seventh inning, while Flora scored twice in the bottom of the seventh to complete the scoring.

Evan Hale led RHS at the plate with two doubles, two singles, two runs batted in and two runs scored, while Chase Johnson singled four times, scored three runs and knocked in two runs. Parker Johnson and Cole Waggoner posted a double, a single, two runs batted in and a run scored apiece, Kade Lassen singled twice and scored two runs, Landon Roy singled and drove in a pair of runs, Ethan Williams and Noah Davis each added a base hit and a run batted in, Alex Hermann singled and scored a run, Elliott Stifle singled, Logan Sexton scored three runs, Levi Hodge drove in a run and Lance Wesner scored a run.

Hodge earned the win on the mound, allowing two hits, walking four and striking out one in two and one-third scoreless innings. Stifle worked one and two-thirds innings of relief, giving up two unearned runs on two hits and two walks, Cade Slaughter walked one and struck out one in two scoreless frames and Davis allowed two runs on two hits in an inning of work.
