Lady Pioneers lose to Dugger, 87-41
JOSH BROWN
Sports Editor

A season-high in points was not enough for Palestine-Hutsonville's girls' basketball team to outscore the leading scorer on the opposing team, let alone pick up a victory Monday (Jan. 8).

The Lady Pioneers stayed close for a quarter, but could not keep pace with visiting Union-Dugger, Ind., resulting in an 87-41 loss.

Palestine-Hutsonville trailed just 21-17 after a high-scoring fourth quarter, but were then outscored 22-7 in the second quarter for a 43-24 halftime deficit. The Lady Pioneers were also outscored 25-11 in the third quarter and 19-6 in the fourth to reach the final margin.

Summer Agan led Palestine-Hutsonville with 15 points, 10 rebounds and two assists, while Abby Bezy posted 15 points, seven rebounds, two steals and one assist. Megan Burton contributed five points, two rebounds and one assist, Emma Bogard netted four points, four rebounds and four steals and Delaney Stoltz added two points, six rebounds and two assists.

Union-Dugger was led by Autumn Everson with 48 points on 20-25 shooting, including 8-10 from three-point range, along with 12 steals and two assists. Brooke Everson added 11 points, seven assists, four steals and two rebounds for the Lady Bulldogs.

There was no junior varsity game, as neither team had enough players.
