The season did not get off to the start Lincoln Trail College's men's basketball team had hoped over the weekend, as they dropped both of their games at the Northwest Florida State Classic.

Lincoln Trail opened with a 95-48 loss to ninth-ranked Motlow State on Friday (Nov. 3), then came up short in a 78-71 loss to Volunteer State on Saturday (Nov. 4).

In Friday's game, LTC dug themselves an early hole and trailed 49-22 at halftime. The second half wasn't much better, as the Statesmen were outscored 46-26 to reach the final margin.

LeAaron Cain was the lone player in double figures for LTC with 12 points, while Lawrence Williams tossed in nine. Kendall Jones and Chuchu Enechionyia each scored eight points, Justin Williams netted four, Hector Walker added three and Todd Smith and Casius Bell Jr. had two points apiece.

All 14 players who saw action for Motlow State scored, including four in double figures. Isaiah Hart led Motlow State with 19 points, while Derrick Rayford tossed in 13 and Leonardo Castillo and Rashawn Fredericks each scored 10.

On Saturday, LTC again fell behind early and was unable to come all the way back. The Statesmen trailed 42-32 at halftime, then outscored Volunteer State 39-36 in the second half only to fall a few baskets short.

Bell led LTC with 16 points, while Smith also cracked double digits with 12. Jones scored nine points, Enechionyia and Cain tossed in eight points apiece, Walker and Ickson Masson each netted six and Justin Williams, Lawrence Williams and Deante Booker added two points apiece.

George Stanberry led Volunteer State with 22 points, while Alex Shaw was also in double figures with 11.
