A long day on the court netted a handful of wins, but not quite enough for Robinson High School's tennis team to get the victory.
The Lady Maroons played for more than four hours at Newton Tuesday (Aug. 29), but ultimately came home with a 5-4 loss.
"I was really pleased with how well our girls played," RHS head coach Steve Jenkins said. "All the matches were very competitive and could have went either way. Our girls are improving on setting up winning points by more precise shot location."
The teams split the six singles matches, with Robinson picking up wins from Emma Goodman at No. 2, Sarah Staller at No. 5 and Alysha Clements at No. 6.
However, that meant Robinson needed two wins in the three doubles matches and could unfortunately only get one, which came from the No. 3 team of Clements and Andrea Schalburg.
Robinson did win all four JV matches in doubles play, with the teams of Staller and Sophie Watson, Jaiden Logan and Laura Rios, Cydnee Weber and Autumn Tennison and Weber and Rios each picking up victories.
