There was both good and bad for Robinson High School's cross country teams in their first meet of the season Tuesday (Aug. 29).
Robinson placed three runners among the top-10 overall, with the boys' coming in with a second-place finish in a five-team meet at Olney and the girls finishing fifth among the five teams that scored in the meet.
In the boys' race, Robinson finished with 64 points, while Olney won easily with 33 points. Lawrenceville-Red Hill was third at 66, followed by Effingham St. Anthony (79) and Teutopolis (93).
Wyatt Bonnell led RHS with a fifth-place finish in 16:52, while Maverick Wright was seventh with a time of 17:11. Also scoring for RHS were Koty Amdahl in 15th (18:00), Lukas Baird in 20th (18:20) and Kobe Lorance in 22nd (18:32).
In the girls' race, Robinson totaled 122 points. Teutopolis cruised to the win with 32 points, followed by Lawrenceville-Red Hill (60), Olney (66) and Effingham St. Anthony (71).
Top finisher for RHS was Sami Johnson in ninth-place with a time of 23:04. Also for RHS, Kayla Guyer finished 25th (27:47), Kelsey McDaniel was 31st (30:35), Mallory Sutfin was 32nd (31:25) and Madysen Clark was 33rd (34:10).
