Palestine-Hutsonville's track team opened their season with a pair of fourth-place finishes in a meet at Marshall Monday.
The Pioneers totaled 31 points in the boys' meet to finish just behind Lawrenceville, who totaled 36. Marshall won the meet with 87, while Neoga was second with 78.
Nathan Kiger led Palestine-Hutsonville with a first-place finish in the high jump at 5-11, while Mikey Roberts finished second in the 1600 in 5:28, the 3200 in 11:53 and the long jump at 16-3. Also finishing second was Andrew Gray in the 110 hurdles in 22.54 and the 800 relay team in 1:46.80.
Also for the Pioneers, Richard Miller was third in the long jump at 15-3 and the 100 in 12.39, Gray placed fourth in the high jump at 5-0 and Luke Decker was fifth in the 800 at 2:28.10.
In the girls' meet, Palestine-Hutsonville scored 12 points, while Neoga won the meet easily with 135. Marshall finished second with 75 and Lawrenceville was third with 18.
Rachel Gower led the Lady Pioneers with a first-place finish in the shot put at 32-2 and a fifth-place effort in the 200 in 32.45, while Autumn Knoblett finished third in the 300 hurdles in 1:15.72 and fourth in the long jump at 11-9.
Palestine-Hutsonville will compete in a meet at Robinson Tuesday, April 8, at 4 p.m.
