Statesmen roll past Lake Land, 11-1
| A pair of big innings were more than enough to get Lincoln Trail College's baseball team back in the win column Wednesday, as they rolled past visiting Lake Land College, 11-1, in Great Rivers Athletic Conference play.|
The Statesmen opened the scoring with a run in the second inning, but Lake Land countered with a run in the third to even the score at 1-1. Lincoln Trail responded in the fourth inning, breaking through for five runs to take a 6-1 lead. The Statesmen added a run in the fifth, three in the sixth and one in the seventh to pull away for the win.
The game was stopped in the bottom of the seventh due to the 10-run rule.
Jack Hranec had a big day at the plate to lead the LTC offense, posting four hits, including two doubles, four runs batted in and two runs scored. Chris Deaville doubled, singled and scored a run, Tasker Strobel singled twice, knocked in a run and scored a run, Connor Robinson singled, drove in two runs and scored a run, Nathan Stark singled and scored twice, Alex VanDeVusse added a base hit and a run scored, Diamyn Hall and Cody Hall each had a run batted in and a run scored and K.J. Rogers scored a run.
Nick Cumpston earned the win on the mound, allowing an unearned run on six hits, while walking three and striking out six in six and two-thirds innings. Kodie Girton retired the only batter he faced in one-third of an inning.
