Robinson sweeps Oblong, Hut-Pal swept in jr. high volleyball action
| Only one of the three Crawford County junior high volleyball teams came away with victories in action Tuesday night.|
Nuttall Middle School's volleyball teams picked up a pair of wins at county rival Oblong, winning the eighth grade match 25-13, 25-10 and the seventh grade match 27-25, 25-16.
In the eighth grade match, Laini Wright led NMS (12-0) with 11 points, including one ace, two assists, two digs and one kill, while Katie Veenstra posted 10 points with five aces, one kill and one dig. Malia Gunn totaled six points with one ace, two kills and two digs, Tayler Wilson netted five points, Kristin Beck scored three points, Kyndal Jobe contributed two points and one kill, Hannah Dean recorded one point, Mallory Sutfin collected four assists and one kill, Audrey Maxwell added three kills, Amy McGahey had two digs and one assist and KayLee Bailey had one kill, one assist and one dig.
For Oblong, Summer Johnson totaled four points with three aces, seven digs and three kills, while Grace Amburgey posted three points with one ace. Camryn Mendenhall and Bry Potter netted two points and one dig apiece, Belle Kemp contributed one point with one ace and three assists, Samantha Johnson added five digs and two assists and Carlie Bradbury had one dig.
In the seventh grade match, Jaedyn Johnson led NMS (10-5) with 21 points, including 10 aces and two digs, while Gracie Gower contributed four points with one ace, two digs, one kill and one assist. Gracie Shidler posted three points, three assists and two digs, Sydni Bailey netted two points with two aces, Amber Hillard recorded two points with one ace and one kill, Lauren Weber collected eight kills and three digs, Meredith Berty and Kenzie Wisdom added one kill apiece and Sophie Watson and Andrea Schalburg each had one dig.
Oblong was led by Sophie Allen with six points, including two aces and two digs, while Abbie Dart posted four points with four aces, two digs and one assist. Nyah Laino contributed four points with one ace and one dig, Paige Mendenhall totaled three points with one ace, three kills and one dig, Shyanna Chapman netted three points with one ace, Jamie Ulrey added two points and one dig and Kirsten Potts had two digs.
At Martinsville, Hutsonville-Palestine dropped the eighth grade match 14-25, 19-25 and the seventh grade match 25-23, 9-25, 15-25.
In the eighth grade match, Ashley Lowrance led Hutsonville-Palestine with nine good serves, including one ace, five good sets and two spikes with one kill, while Mandy Wilson posted six good serves with two aces and four spikes with one kill. Paige Poorman netted five good serves with one ace and two spikes with one kill, Delaney Stoltz contributed four good serves with three aces and one spike with one kill, Kaleigh Newlin totaled four good serves with one ace, five good sets and one spike, Mandi Alspach added four spikes with two kills and one good serve, Sydney Guyer had two good serves and one spike and Kindley Lederman had two good serves.
In the seventh grade match, Macy Biggs led Hutsonville-Palestine with seven good serves and one spike with one kill, while Ashlyn Matthews posted six good serves with three aces and two spikes. Marian Heleine netted six good serves and one spike, Alison Dunlap totaled five good serves with four aces, two good sets and one spike, Mackenzie Stephenson contributed four good serves with four aces, five good sets and one spike and Mara Matthews netted three good serves and eight good sets.
