Solid performances put Nuttall Middle School's cross country runners in the middle of the pack Saturday at the IESA State Finals.
The NMS boys' team finished 16th out of 25 complete teams that competed in the 2A Meet at Maxwell Park in Normal with 395 points, which was well off the pace of team champion Chicago Whitney Young, who totaled 112 points.
Leading the way for NMS was Lukas Baird, who finished 34th among runners factoring into the team standings with time of 11:24 on the two-mile course, while Cole Waggoner came in 52nd with a time of 11:40. Kobe Lorance was 96th in 12:10, Wyatt Bonnell was 97th in 12:10, Trayton Tragesser was 116th in 12:25, Logan Sexton was 163rd in 13:13 and Lucas Blunier was 175th in 16:15.
Individual champion was Anthony Pena of Moline Seton Catholic, who won the race with a time of 10:34.
In the girls' race, Sami Jo Johnson finished 100th overall out of 214 runners with a time of 13:15.
Christina Ryzhov of DeKalb Clinton Rosette won the race with a time of 11:21, while Lindenhurst Milburn won the team championship with 64 points.
