Lady Tigers fall short to Marshall in three sets Thursday in LIC play

A lack of steady play doomed Hutsonville-Palestine's volleyball team once again Thursday.

The Lady Tigers took the opening set from visiting Marshall in their Little Illini Conference match, but then lost the final two sets to send them to their fourth straight loss, 25-18, 18-25, 19-25.

McKenna Elder led Hutsonville-Palestine with 13 good serves, including three aces and five good sets, while Rhiannon Pearse totaled 11 good serves with four aces, nine spikes with four kills and seven blocks with two stuffs. Emily Nehls posted 52 good sets, 10 good serves with two aces, one spike with one kill and one stuff block, Bridget Yockey netted 10 good serves with three aces and eight spikes with two kills, Taci Newlin added 10 good sets, five spikes with two kills and two blocks and Kiley Rariden had nine spikes and six good serves.

Hutsonville-Palestine also lost the junior varsity match in two sets, 17-25, 17-25.

Rariden led the Lady Tigers with 10 good serves, including two aces and seven spikes with three kills, while Chloe Fulling netted 10 spikes with three kills and three good serves. Newlin totaled 34 good sets, two spikes with one kill and two good serves, Rachel Gower posted seven spikes with four kills and four blocks with one stuff and Baylee Baker added 15 good sets and three good serves.

Hutsonville-Palestine (3-10, 2-4 LIC) will play at Flora in a LIC contest Tuesday at 6:15 p.m.
