Robinson High School's girls' tennis team was competitive Thursday, but not enough to get them a win.
The Lady Maroons played several close matches, but only managed a pair of wins in a 7-2 loss at Mt. Carmel.
"We had some long rallies tonight," RHS head coach John Ireland said. "We played a tough match tonight and were able to get two wins."
Robinson got one win each in singles and doubles.
The lone singles win came at No. 6, where Emily Harp downed Kelly Nohl, 6-1, 6-1. In doubles play, Robinson got the win at No. 2, where Brittney Fuller and Madison Buchanan defeated Hannah Seaton and Elise Thomason, 6-4, 6-4.
"Emily played a great match and was able to get a great victory tonight," Ireland said. "Madi and Brittney played a strong doubles match tonight. They played very aggressive in the win."
On a positive note, Robinson won all eight junior varsity matches that were played.
Jordan Mikeworth, Sarah Rynke, Amy Watts and Lillie Hargis each earned singles victories, while the teams of Hargis and Watts, Hargis and Katie Beals scored a win apiece and Mikeworth and Rynke won two matches.
