Offensive woes continued for Hutsonville-Palestine's softball team Thursday, resulting in yet another loss.
The Lady Tigers had seven hits in the game, but they could not string them together and dropped their eighth straight game in a 6-1 loss at Lawrenceville in Little Illini Conference play.
Hutsonville-Palestine trailed virtually the entire game, as Lawrenceville scored once in the first, then added three more in the third for a 4-0 lead. The Lady Tigers scored their only run in the fourth, when Nicole Kiger reached on an error and later scored on a sacrifice fly by Calee Fulling to make the score 4-1. However, Lawrenceville tacked on a pair of insurance runs in the bottom of the fourth to secure the win.
The Lady Tigers left runners on base in almost every inning and left multiple runners on a couple of times.
Fulling led Hutsonville-Palestine at the plate with a base hit and a run batted in, while Emily Nehls, Kendyl Surrells, Taci Newlin, Katie Williams, Becky Mendenhall and McKenna Elder added a base hit apiece and Kiger scored a run.
Surrells took the loss on the mound, giving up four runs on six hits in two and one-third innings, while Myranda Napier allowed two runs on four hits in three and two-thirds innings of relief.
