The Tigers were outdueled by previously winless Lawrenceville, 3-1, in a Little Illini Conference contest.
Hutsonville-Palestine started well, scoring a run in the top of the first, but that was all they would get on the day. Lawrenceville tied the game with a run in the fifth, then plated two in the sixth to take the lead and was able to hold on for the win.
Matt Schmidlin led Hutsonville-Palestine at the plate with a double and two singles, while Brandon Ramsey and Cade Fulling added a base hit apiece for the Tigers.
Brandon Cofer suffered the loss on the mound, allowing three runs on six hits, while walking two and striking out 10 in five-plus innings of work. B.J. Ramsey tossed a scoreless inning of relief, allowing one hit.
