Lady Statesmen remain winless in GRAC play after 84-39 loss to SWIC

Visiting Southwestern Illinois College scored almost all the points they would need in the first 20 minutes Monday night, on their way to an 84-39 whipping of host Lincoln Trail College in Great Rivers Athletic Conference play in Robinson.

With the loss, the Lady Statesmen have now lost three straight games since winning their first game of the season eight days ago, while remaining winless in conference play.

Lincoln Trail struggled from the outset, as they were outscored 35-15 in the first half, then SWIC outscored the Lady Statesmen 49-24 after halftime to run away with the lopsided victory.

Lara Benningfield led LTC with 12 points and six rebounds, while Kelsie Coleman posted eight points and two rebounds. Ted'ra Taborn netted five points and four rebounds, Kristin Henry contributed five points and three rebounds, Danielle Nettleton totaled four points, four rebounds, three assists and one steal, Gabrielle Duncan added three points, one rebound and one assist and Andrea Rivera had two points and five rebounds.

Janelle Cannon led SWIC with 27 points, seven rebounds, five assists and five steals, while Danielle Duncan totaled 14 points, six rebounds, five assists and three steals and Bailey Setzekorn netted 10 points and one rebound.

Lincoln Trail (1-22, 0-11 GRAC) will play at Southeastern Illinois College for a GRAC contest Wednesday at 5:30 p.m.
