For the sixth time already this season, Oblong High School's boys' basketball team played a game in Cumberland and for the fourth time, they came away with a victory.
The Panthers opened up Little Illini Conference play Friday with a 56-37 whipping of the host team at Waldrip Gym in Toledo.
Oblong grabbed a 16-12 lead after one quarter, then outscored Cumberland 12-9 for a 28-21 halftime lead. The Panthers stretched their lead to 44-32 after three quarters, then outscored Cumberland 12-5 in the fourth quarter to pull away for the win.
Anthony Johnson paced OHS with 32 points, while Collin Meese was also in double figures with 11. Gerald Richardson tossed in eight points for the Panthers, Chase Mendenhall netted four points and Kyler Fear scored one.
Monte Wolke was the lone player in double figures for Cumberland with 11 points, while Trevor Brumleve added eight.
Oblong lost the junior varsity game, 54-30. No other information was available.
Oblong (5-2, 1-0 LIC) will play host to Edwards County Tuesday at 6:15 p.m.
