Lady Tigers fall to Casey-Westfield in two

The struggles continued for Hutsonville-Palestine's volleyball team Tuesday night, as the Lady Tigers fell to visiting Casey-Westfield in straight sets, 10-25, 10-25, in Little Illini Conference play.

It was the 14th straight loss for Hutsonville-Palestine, who hasn't won in more than a month.

Nicole Kiger led the Lady Tigers with 27 good sets, three spikes, three good serves and one block, while Kendyl Surrells and Kiley Rariden netted three spikes with one kill and two good serves apiece. Emily Nehls posted six good sets, two spikes with one kill and two good serves, Rhiannon Pearse added three good serves and two spikes with two kills and Jaidlyn Coffman had two spikes with one kill and two good serves.

"My Lady Tigers are fighting for every point we get this year," HHS-PHS head coach Jolene Crippes-Callaway said. "We may get the hell beat out of us, but the Lady Tigers will be back. You can count on it."

Hutsonville-Palestine did win the junior varsity match in straight sets, 25-9, 25-13.

Nehls led Hutsonville-Palestine with a 13-14 effort on serves with two aces, 28 good sets and one spike with one kill, while Taci Newlin posted eight spikes with four kills and four good serves. Payton Lindley netted 10 good serves and three spikes, Pearse contributed seven spikes with four kills and four good serves with two aces, McKenna Elder added six good sets, five good serves and one spike with one kill and Chaney McCammon had five good serves.

Hutsonville-Palestine (3-19, 1-7 LIC) will play a LIC match at Lawrenceville Thursday at 6:15 p.m.
