It was a busy night on the hardwood for junior high girls' basketball teams in Crawford County.
All six local squads were in action, with three of them getting wins and the other three taking losses.
Oblong scored a pair of wins at Dieterich Monday, winning the eighth grade game 26-17 and the seventh grade contest, 26-10.
In the eighth grade game, Oblong jumped out to a 6-2 lead after one quarter and held an 9-6 advantage at halftime. Oblong then outscored Dieterich 13-7 in the third quarter to take a 22-13 lead, then each team scored four points in the fourth quarter to reach the final margin.
Logan Draves paced Oblong (1-0) with 10 points and eight rebounds, while Camryn Travis posted eight points and one rebound. Karley Shipman chipped in with four points and five rebounds and Belle Kemp and Nyah Laino netted two points and one rebound apiece.
In the seventh grade game, Oblong blanked Dieterich in the first half, while scoring six points in the first quarter and 10 in the second for a 16-0 halftime lead. Dieterich closed the gap to 18-5 after three quarters, while Oblong outscored Dieterich 8-5 in the fourth quarter to seal the win.
Kemp topped Oblong (1-0) with eight points and two rebounds, while Samantha Johnson netted six points and one rebound. Abby Dart collected four points and seven rebounds, Laino posted four points and two rebounds, Camryn Mendenhall added two points and three rebounds and Paige Mendenhall had two points and two rebounds.
At Palestine, Palestine-Hutsonville dropped the eighth grade game to Red Hill, 29-14, but won the seventh grade game, 24-12.
In the eighth grade game, Erikka Patterson led PGS-HGS (1-2) with six points, while Savanna Wells totaled four points, eight rebounds and two steals. Baylee Baker and Taylor Keene tossed in two points apiece and Tarryn Monti grabbed seven rebounds.
In the seventh grade game, Halley Steffey paced the Lady Pioneers (1-1) with 12 points and four steals, while Ashley Lowrance posted eight points, three rebounds and three steals. Delaney Stoltz and Shelby Garrett each netted two points and Ally Ham collected six rebounds.
At Charleston, Robinson lost the eighth grade game, 24-12 and the seventh grade game, 23-2.
In the eighth grade game, Robinson fell behind 7-0 after the first quarter, then were outscored 15-3 in the second quarter for a 22-3 halftime deficit. The Lady Raiders outscored Charleston 4-1 in the third quarter and 5-1 in the fourth, but it was not enough.
Kirbie Mendenhall led NMS (1-4) with seven points, three rebounds, two steals and one assist, while Josie Goff posted three points, three rebounds and one steal. Alexis Sullivan contributed two points, one steal and one blocked shot, Anna Jones grabbed three rebounds and Jenna Grove had one rebound.
In the seventh grade game, Robinson (0-5) fell behind 8-2 after one quarter, then did not score the rest of the way. Charleston led 13-2 at halftime and 17-2 after three quarters, then tacked on six more points in the fourth quarter.
