Former township official faces charges
Hamilton released on bond after arrest in 2009 investigation.
A child pornography charge has been filed against a former Robinson Township official.

Tony L. Hamilton, 41, Robinson, was arrested on a Crawford County warrant charging him with possession of child pornography, a Class 3 felony.

Robinson police began an investigation May 28, 2009, after files were allegedly discovered on Hamilton's computer that were suspected to contain child pornography.

A warrant was issued Friday and was served by Crawford County Sheriff's Department about 8 p.m. Hamilton posted $5,000 cash bond and was released pending his next court date.

Hamilton was forced to resign as highway commissioner in March 2005 after pleading guilty to unrelated charges. According to court documents, he was accused of knowingly violating state law by cashing and keeping more than $3,500 in checks made out to Robinson Township.

Hamilton entered a negotiated guilty plea to one count of theft and one count of misconduct in Crawford County Circuit Court. He was sentenced to two years probation, ordered to perform 300 hours of public service work and was forced to resign immediately as highway commissioner. He was also fined $1,000 plus court costs.

Hamilton worked for the highway department for 14 years before being appointed to complete the remainder of his father's term when Ellis Hamilton retired in April 2000. He was elected to the post in 2001.

That was wrong to mention Ellis Hamilton. He has passed away and needs to be left out of this all! Bringing up stuff that happened in 2005 is not needed!

I agree with Ryan. There was no reason to bring up a case from the past that has nothing to do with the present case. And also it would be nice to leave Ellis Hamilton out of the whole thing.

What does the March 2005 case have to do with the new case? Why even mention it, ITS NOT RELEVANT! And I might let you know that Mr. Ellis Hamilton is dead, let him rest in peace!
