It was a night for celebration at Robinson High School Friday night and it had nothing to do with Valentine's Day.
Prior to Friday night's Little Illini Conference game against Red Hill, RHS recognized the 10th anniversary of the boys' basketball team's state championship victory at the conclusion of the 2009-10 season.
Several members of the administration, cheerleaders, coaching staff and about half of the players from that year's team were in attendance for the event. Each member was introduced individually before the start of the varsity contest, then a list of the achievements the players accomplished during that season and in their careers were read, followed by a speech from the head coach of that team - Bob Coffman. A seven-minute long slide show with pictures from the state tournament run was shown as well.
Following the ceremony, Robinson whipped Red Hill, 75-38, in their Little Illini Conference contest.
This was the first of two ceremonies RHS is holding to honor past achievements in the athletic program, as the first round of inductions to the Robinson Hall of Fame is set to be held prior to Tuesday's home basketball game against Marshall.
