Another crash leaves driver dead
The fifth fatality in an area vehicle accident over the past week occurred Thursday night on Illinois Route 33.

Illinois State Police report a Lawrenceville man was killed in a one-car crash south of Russellville.

At around 5:54 p.m, James C. Foremen, 64, was traveling north on Route 33 in a white 1999 Buick Park Avenue, about one-half mile south of Russellville. Foreman began to negotiate a left-hand curve, ran off the right side of the roadway and overcorrected. The rear of the vehicle then struck a tree.

Foreman was taken by ambulance to Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes, where he was later pronounced dead.

The crash follows three fatal accidents on area roads last weekend, including one in Lawrence County and one in Clark County.

A Lawrence County man was among two people killed in a two-vehicle accident on U.S. Route 50 near Lawrenceville at 6:56 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 11. Roger W, Hughes, 74, Bridgeport, a passenger in a black 2015 Chevrolet Tahoe being driven by his son, Derek Hughes, 38, Lawrenceville was killed. Also dead was Jessica N. White, 37, Linton, Ind., a passenger in a 1997 Jeep Cherokee being driven by Shonda French, 43, also of Linton.

French was taken to Deaconess Hospital in Evansville with unknown injuries. Three other passengers in the Hughes vehicle, 34-year-old Laura L. Hughes, a 12-year-old female and a nine-year-old female, were taken to Lawrence County Memorial Hospital.

A fatal accident occurred around 6:19 a.m. Friday, Jan. 10, at Clarksville Road and Cleone Road in Clark County.

Wade C. Shaefer, 32, Charleston, was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to the initial report Schaefer was eastbound on Clarksville Road, just east of Cleone Road, in a silver, 2005, Toyota Avalon, when he crossed over into the westbound lane and struck a blue, 1994, Kenworth truck tractor, driven by Matthew Wayne Locker, 37, Knightstown, Ind., head on.

A single-vehicle accident in Fayette County left one dead and two injured.

Craig Frailey, 28, Ramsey, was pronounced dead at Fayette County Hospital. Passengers Brittany Hall, 23, Ramesy, and Ryan Ward, 32, Brownstown, were all taken to the hospital for treatment.
