Authorities are still investigating an apparent suicide that happened in the New Hebron area Wednesday morning.
Aaron Harper, 40, was found dead at his residence, 10803 E. 775th Ave, Robinson, around 11:40 a.m. Wednesday.
The Crawford County Sheriff's Department was alerted to the possibility of a suicide by a note left on the door of the residence. The note mentioned some type of gas, which prompted sheriff's deputies to contact Robinson Fire and Crawford County Rescue to respond with protective gear before entering the residence.
Once it was determined that the residence was safe to enter, United Life Care Ambulance personnel entered the residence, where they found Harper unresponsive. Crawford County Coroner Earl Deckard pronounced him dead at 12:20 p.m.
Illinois State Police Crime Scene Investigators were called to the scene to aid in the investigation along with the coroner's office and sheriff's department.
Harper is believed to previously have lived in Ohio and Kansas.
