Area standoff is ended without incident

A several-hour standoff with police in Marshall ended peacefully Wednesday.

Marshall Chief of Police, Chris Smithson, said officers were serving a warrant for the arrest of Charles Tyler Livvix, Marshall, due to a missed court date Wendesday, when Livvix shut himself inside a house on South 14th St.

"Officers located the suspect in the garage, when they made contact with him he shut the garage door and would not come out of the house. Officers backed off and called for reinforcements," Smithson said.

According to Smithson, Marshall Police called on the ILIAS Tactical Response Team, which is made up of several different agencies, and were peacefully able to bring this situation to an end around 6:30 p.m.

It was reported that just before his arrest, Marshall Police, Clark County Sheriff Dept, Illinois State Police, and the East Central Illinois Task Force used a ram to try and break threw a side door of the house, and Livvix then exited the front door, and was taken into custody.

"We're very happy that he came out finally, without incident. He was unharmed, and he was taken off to jail," Smithson said.

Smithson did confirm that Livvix made a number of posts to Facebook during the standoff, but would not confirm the nature of those posts.

In 2014 the suspect's brother, Adam Livvix, was arrested for allegedly plotting to attack Muslim holy sites in Jerusalem.
