The Palestine Unit 3 School Board Monday approved a contractor to paint Palestine Grade School's bus barn. The contract was awarded to Crampton Painting and Drywall, Robinson. The district hopes to have the painting done before the end of summer.

Jonathan Wagoner's resignation as the district's foreign language teacher was accepted. In return the board posted an opening for that position.

The board also made three paraprofessional hires. These hires included Laurel Adams, Rachelle Simms and Nicole Veach.

Board member Don Wagoner was also motioned to be the district's IASB representative.

A pair of custodial hires were approved by the board. Todd Bates was named the district's full-time evening custodian, while Judy White was approved as the substitute custodian.

Joshua Baker was named the district's band and music teacher.

Two new hires were approved for the Oblong-Palestine-Hutsonville high school football program. Nick Straka and Todd Garrison were approved as co-assistant football coaches.

The board also agreed to post an assistant junior high softball coaching position.

Gary Hilderbrand's resignation as a district bus driver was approved, while Terry Clark's resignation as an elementary teacher was approved. The board agreed to post an opening for that position.

Grade school principal Jessica Sisil's principal contract was approved by the board, and she was also appointed the district's freedom of information act officer.

The board also approved the renewal of their IASB membership for the 2019-20 school year.
