2-year-old victim of horse kick recovering
Addresses given for fundraiser, cards, gifts for Jason.
Two year old Jason Stutzman is recovering from surgery after being kicked by a horse Monday.

According to reports from his family Jason under went five hours of surgery during which the doctors were able to repair his skull (the doctors described it as "Imagine a rubber ball with a small dent in one side about two inches in diameter and a half inch deep. We're going to go in and remove that dent") and set the right femur (which was a very clean break). The surgeon also told them that the growth plate in the leg was not disturbed,

Jason is expected to be able to come home in three to seven days, and both his parents Willie and Barbara Stutzman are there with him.

Due to the lifestyle of the Amish Community, conventional methods of helping the family are not available to them. Liz Hartrich Thacker, Oblong, is a close friend of the family and has been in contact with them and providing updates on Jason's condition via Facebook. She has volunteered to be the point person for donations.

"We discussed the fundraising and she reacted exactly as I expected....but then she started to cry and said that she felt 'unworthy'...of all things," Thacker said in a Facebook post. "She also asked me to tell you all that she is so very, very grateful as they will have several trips to make back and forth to Indianapolis and a huge bill at the hospital and with the air-evac company.

Gifts of money, cards, phone cards, cash or checks can be sent to: Liz Hartrich Thacker, Stutzman Family Fundraiser, 11313 N. 450th St. Oblong, IL 62449. All checks should be made out to "Willie and Barbara Stutzman."

Cards, activity items and gifts for Jason should be sent to: Jason Stutzman, c/o Willie Stutzman, 1504 E. 1250 Ave., Oblong, IL 62449.
