The Board of the United Way of Crawford County has announced the hiring of Barbara Shimer for its community resource representative position.
Shimer has recently retired as the Theatre and Arts Director at Lincoln Trail College and is a well-known community activist. The board is impressed with her passion for this new position. They are looking forward to her employment to better demonstrate to the Crawford County Community how the United Way is "Investing and Improving Lives in our Community."
"I'm excited to share the next chapter in my journey that will begin May 1st as the Community Resource Representative for United Way of Crawford County," said Shimer. "I look forward to this amazing challenge and working with friends and neighbors in a new way. This is such a great organization and powerful force for good in our community and I am proud to be a part of it."
Shimer was recently awarded the LTC presidential award in recognition of her continued loyalty, commitment and contributions supporting the mission and goals of LTC.
"I have loved my work at Lincoln Trail College and value the people I have worked with and have become a valuable part of my life. I feel so fortunate to have made Theater with so many talented folks who have become family. Those memories will always be so sweet," said Shimer.
