It was a short meeting, but when it was finished, the Robinson Unit 2 school board officially had three new members, two new officers and a new meeting time.
The Unit 2 board re-organized Tuesday, welcoming three new members in the wake of the recent consolidated election.
Taking the oath of office were newcomers Dr. Michael Elliott II, Mary Jane Parker and Veronica Murphy, as well as re-elected incumbent Amy Stone.
Fellow incumbent Stacey Shew was not retained, while another incumbent, Greg Bachelor, opted not to seek another term.
Bill Sandiford was elected board president over Dennis Inboden by a 4-3 vote. Chad Brown was elected vice president by acclamation.
Carla Sinclair was retained as district secretary and Susan Trimble will continue in the role of district treasurer.
Board meetings will continue to be on the third Monday of the month most of the time.
The exceptions are January and February, when the meetings are pushed back a day because of the Martin Luther King Jr. and Presidents Day holidays, and June and September, when they are bumped back to allow the annual budget and amendments to be on public display for the mandated 30 days.
Beginning in May, however, the meetings will start at 5:30 p.m. They have started at 4:30 p.m. for the past several months, but Elliott suggested that was too early because many people, himself included, work until 5 p.m.
Most meetings are at the central office on North Allen. Four times a year, however, the board visits the district schools for its meetings.
