A Robinson man will spend the next 25 years of his life prison after being found guilty of a child sex crime.
Crawford County State's Attorney Matthew Hartrich announced Monday that Alfred Waldrop, 56, was sentenced to the Illinois Department of Corrections for the felony offense of predatory criminal sexual assault of a child.
The sentence will be followed by three years to natural life of mandatory supervised release.
He was found guilty of the charge on March 6 following a three-day jury trial.
Hartrich argued for the extended sentence based upon the seriousness of the offense and need to protect the community from serious offenders.
"I am please that I was able to obtain a just punishment for this heinous crime committed by Alfred Waldrop," Hartrich said. "The victim in this case showed great bravery in coming forward and testifying at trial against the man who had sexually assaulted her."
