LTC student killed in Clark Co. Saturday
Softball player was on her way to practice; counselors at LTC, M'ville HS.
A Lincoln Trail College softball player was killed in a Clark County accident early Saturday.

Audria Truelove, 20, Martinsville, was reportedly on her way to practice about 8:25 a.m. when the 2014 Chrysler she was driving collided with the rear of a 2014 Volvo tractor-trailer truck driven by Rahshawn Jordan, 39, Glen Burnie, Md.

According to Illinois State Police, Jordan was southbound on Illinois Route 1 at Ernst Road when he felt ill and slowed down. Truelove did not slow down and crashed into the back of Jordan's truck.

Truelove was killed in the wreck. The conditions of Jordan and his passenger, Fredrick Patterson, 56, Indianapolis, are unknown.

Authorities kept the highway closed for several hours following the crash. It re-opened to traffic about 2:30 p.m.

Truelove was a freshman member of the Lady Statesman softball team. She was a 2018 graduate of Martinsville High School, where she played softball, basketball and volleyball.

LTC postponed all athletic events scheduled for Saturday and announced via Facebook it would make grief counselors from Highland Church of Christ and First United Methodist Church available for students, faculty and staff. Counselors were to be on campus today.

MHS also planned to have counselors on hand today.

The LTC softball team posted a message online asking community members for their prayers.
