Illinois Eastern Community College trustees have approved the district's annual tax levies.
Originally proposed in October, the 2018-19 levies were certified by trustees during their meeting Wednesday at Wabash Valley College, Mount Carmel. A public hearing on the levies preceded the regular meeting.
The estimated tax levy is almost $4.92 million. This is up from more than $4.75 million last year. There is also an extension for bond and interest payments of nearly $2.2 million, up from $2.14 million last year. The total levy is almost $7.1 million.
IECC Chief Executive Officer Terry Bruce said last month he expects the actual levies will be somewhat lower than estimated.
College and school districts usually base levies on EAV estimates that are set intentionally high. Districts can not collect on amounts higher than their estimates.
There is no change in IECC's tax rates, which have remained the same since 1965.
