In the wake of numerous complaints, Palestine will not allow door-to-door selling and soliciting anymore, at least from non-local entities.
Police Chief Jeff Besing announced Tuesday that too many complaints from residents concerning harassment, unprofessional behavior and "pushy door to door solicitors have forced his hand.
"Effective immediately, door-to-door sales/solicitations from utility companies, magazine sales, etc., will no longer be allowed in the Village of Palestine," Besing said.
But local organizations will be allowed to continue their fundraisers door-to-door until night.
"Local school and club organizations asking for donations for community events (example: boys/girls sporting teams, grade and high school fundraisers etc.) will still be allowed as long as they are done before the night-time hours of the evening," Besing said.
Residents who do not want any form of solicitation at their residence, local or non-local, can always pick up a "No Solicitors" sign from the Village Hall.
