'Elf' cast preparing for spotlight

Lincoln Trail College Children's Summer Theater Director Tara Gallion is encouraging audiences to embrace their "inner elf" and join them on a holiday adventure when its students perform Elf Jr. June 29-July 1.

Based on the New Line Cinema motion picture, the show follows Buddy on his quest to find his birth father and restore everyone's Christmas spirit along the way. The show features songs by Tony Award nominees Matthew Sklar and Chad Beguelin, with a book by Tony Award winners Thomas Meehan and Bob Martin.

The cast is led by a group of eighth-graders in their final Children's Summer Theater production. Xavier Brown, a veteran performer appearing in multiple children's and mainstage productions including The Nerd, The Music Man and last summer's Madagascar Jr., brings Buddy to life. Elizabeth Boyd, who headlined last fall's Annie, plays Jovie, the cynical Macy's employee with a soft heart. Evan Gower, building on his comedic performance as Kowalski last summer, will play Buddy's dad, hard-nosed publishing executive Walter Hobbs.

Santa Claus, played by Devon Cheesman, oversees a group of North Pole elves, including Evan Fiscus as Charlie and Savannah Christy as Shawanda. Lyla Stewart, Leah Correll, Ashtyn Reid, Ella Mosbey, and Micaela Vega are featured in the workshop which also includes Anthony Tran, Seth Mason, Lucas Aydt, Dylan Corn, Ella Bunten, Aleia Trueman, Brylee Tingley, Mya Wright, Anna Osborn, Kayla Corn, Lily Brown, Harper Gallion, Piper Bonnell, Josie Short, Alexis Inboden, Harper Weck, Ellie Schutte, Klaira Strohm, Audrey Bradbury, Terynn Loftis, and Jasleen Sharma.

Some New Yorkers Buddy meets include business woman Addison Johnson, jogger Jacob Meese, Flyer Guy Adin Gower, passerby Grace Gower, and teenager Hunter Murrell along with Kifer Stevens, Gracie Inboden, Riley Erton, Katelyn Murrell, Sophie Stark, Samantha Davis, Mary Alice Elliot, Callie Reid, Mallory Mosbey, Victoria McMillan and Kinley Bradbury.

Once Buddy connects with Walter, he meets his new family and the staff at Greenway Publishing. Rachel Wiseman plays Walter's wife, Emily, and Zachary Chamblin is Michael, Walter and Emily's son. Victoriya Cheesman takes the stage as Walter's secretary Deb, Jacob Meese is Sam, Quinn Wesley is Chadwick, Morgan Fiscus is Matthews, Katelyn Murrell is Sarah, Dylan Corn and Lucas Aydt are security guards and Gabe Bailey is Mr. Greenway.

At Macy's, Buddy meets saleswoman Victoria McMillan, manager Lindsey Hevron and employees Mallory Mosbey, Sicily Rawlings, Allison Meese, Kinley Bradbury, Amara Bricker, Isabelle Sutfin, Lauren Correll, Morgan Fiscus and Quinn Wesley.

Anna Osborn as Santa's Helper helps a group of parents and children see Fake Santa. played by Kifer Stevens. The parents include Gabe Bailey, Grace Gower, Gracie Inboden, Riley Erton, and Callie Reid. The kids are played by Hunter Murrell, Evan Fiscus, Alexis Inboden, Josie Short, Ellie Schutte, Harper Gallion and Terynn Loftis. Policemen Adin Gower and Addison Johnson are called in to restore order.

The crowd at Rockefeller Center includes Hunter Murrell, Kifer Stevens, Gracie Inboden, Riley Erton, Katelynn Murrell, Sophie Stark, Samantha Davis, Mary Alice Elliot, Adin Gower, Addison Johnson, Grace Gower, Jacob Meese, Callie Reid, Mallory Mosbey, Victoria McMillan, Kinley Bradbury, Allison Meese, and Sicily Rawlings.

The Central Park carolers are Lyla Stewart, Leah Correll, Ashtyn Reid, Ella Mosbey, Micaela Vega, Evan Fiscus, Savannah Christy, Anthony Tran, Seth Mason, Lucas Aydt, Dylan Corn, Ella Bunten, Aleia Trueman, Brylee Tingley, Mya Wright, Anna Osborn, Kayla Corn, Lily Brown, Harper Gallion, Piper Bonnell, Josie Short, Alexis Inboden, Harper Weck, Ellie Schutte, Klaira Strohm, Audrey Bradbury, Terynn Loftis and Jasleen Sharma.

Isabelle Sutfin as Charlotte Dennon, Lauren Correll as Darlene Lambert and Amara Bricker as Emma Van Brocklin complete the cast.

Performances are June 29 and 30 at 7 p.m. and July 1 at 2 p.m. Tickets are $5 for adults and $2 for students and can be reserved by contacting the Performing Arts Office at 544-8657, ext. 1433. Office hours are 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday-Thursday and 8 a.m. to noon Friday.
