The dog days of summer are not even here yet, but schools are gearing up for registration.
The first day of attendance for Palestine Unit 3 students will be Tuesday, Aug. 19, with an early dismissal time of 1:45 p.m. Great Start students will start on Monday, Aug. 25.
Parents of returning students who have provided the school with a valid email address and received a welcome letter and password through the new Teacher Ease program can start the registration process by going online and downloading the forms needed for registration.
To register go to www.teacherease.com now through Aug. 12. Click on "on-line registration," verify the information under the tabs for each of your students and save the information. You can then download and print the PDF documents, complete the forms and bring them to the school on registration day, Tuesday, Aug. 12, from noon to 6:30 p.m.
Parents are reminded that completed physicals must be presented at the time of registration.
The Illinois School Code requires physicals for all students entering kindergarten, sixth and ninth grades. Also, students entering Palestine School District for the first time, who have not previously met those requirements must also have a physical.
Students in the second and sixth grades must have proof of a dental examination on file with the school. Students are also required to be up to data on all vaccinations and immunizations. Students entering kindergarten must also have a vision examination by an optometrist or ophthalmologist. Students in other grades may receive a vision screening during the first three months of school.
Great Start students and those without valid email addresses must complete their registration at either the grade school or high school Aug. 12.
