Three pit bulls involved in a fatal attack on a 4-year-old girl have been put down.
McLean County authorities have euthanized the three dogs involved Jan. 17 attack on Kara Hartrich, Bloomington. The child, who has family in Robinson, died of massive blood loss after she was bitten by at least two of her family's dogs at her home. The two were non-neutered male pit bulls.
Authorities were unsure if the third dog, a female pit bull, bit Kara.
All three animals were put down following a state-mandated 10-day observation period by McLean County Animal Control.
McLean County State's Attorney Jason Chambers said no charges would be filed as a result of the attack because the dogs had no prior documented history of biting.
