Palestine Public Library is in the process of joining SHARE, the largest library consortium in the country.
Joining this new system will benefit the library's patrons by offering them more services. Patrons will be able to search for books online and manage their personal accounts by renewing books or seeing if ordered books have arrived at the library. They can also check out new features like 3M e-books.
The library also will continue to offer Overdrive services for e-books.
To prepare for this new system, patrons will be asked to use their library cards to check out materials. The library hopes to be done with conversion by the beginning of the year.
To help teach this new system to patrons, Palestine High School seniors have volunteered their time from 1:30 to 3 p.m. every school day.
This is the second year of this program called "Connecting Gener@tions."
The seniors are also willing to help with any gadgets that patrons may be receiving for Christmas.
