Salvation Army effort continuing
Bells will keep ringing in Robinson.

The Crawford County Salvation Army's annual "Tree of Lights" campaign will continue as planned. Theresa Thacker has taken over scheduling volunteer bell-ringers from Carol Ryan, who stepped down this week after more than 15 years.

The event is scheduled to begin Friday, Nov. 22. It is the Salvation Army's only fund raiser.

Thacker said she would like to raise more money this year than in the past, but because she is just starting out, her main goal is "to raise as much as we can."

She has begun recruiting volunteers to man the collection shack in front of the Robinson Wal-Mart. Volunteers work one-hour shifts between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays during the holiday season.

"It's going pretty good, but we still need a lot of volunteers," Thacker said.

To volunteer, call Thacker at 592-4583 or 843-4584.
