An Indianapolis man was killed in a van-motorcycle accident Friday evening.
Walter Scriff, 47, Indianapolis, was traveling south on Illinois Route 1 on a 1982 Harley-Davidson at County Road 1425N in Trimble when a van traveling north on Route 1 tried to turn left on to 1425N into the path of Scriff.
Scriff struck the passenger side of the van. He was pronounced dead at the scene. He was not wearing a helmet.
The van, a 2003 Dodge, was driven by Joyce E.I. Holdiman, 28, 207 S. Roosevelt, Robinson. Holdiman was charged with aggravated driving under the influence, driving under the influence of drugs, failure to yield turning left and failure to wear a seat belt.
Holdiman had three passengers in her van at the time of the accident. Nicole Snyder, no age given, was not injured, and reportedly was wearing a seat belt. Blake Tracy, 2, was in a car seat, and also was not injured. A third passenger, Joshua Tracy, 29, was injured and taken to Crawford Memorial Hospital by United Life Care Ambulance Service, where he was treated and released. He was later charged with illegal transportation of alcohol.
Holdiman is being held in the Crawford County Jail awaiting bond.
The Illinois State Police are investigating the accident with the assistance of the Crawford County Sheriff's Department.
