The Robinson Unit 2 School Board made a few personnel changes and honored the high school wrestling team during Monday night's meeting.

In its quest to reduce the budget by $500,000 the board made personnel cuts and accepted resignations.

Nuttall Middle School health teacher Tamara Jones, and Lincoln Grade School special education teacher Jennifer McKee, were the only two certified staff reduced in force during the meeting. Robinson High School English teacher Donna Langley will retire at the end of the school year.

The board accepted the resignations of Courtney Klier as NMS Speech Club sponsor, Janelle Oxford as RHS English Department Division Head, and Lauren Waddell as RHS cheerleading sponsor.

Three teachers gave their notice to retire in the upcoming years. Cynthia Schrey, RHS math teacher, and Cathy Jones, LGS third grade teacher gave notice of their intent to retire at the end of the 2017-18 school year. RHS Assistant Principal Janis Loughery gave her intent to retire at the end of the 2016-17 school year. All three were accepted by the board.

The board recognized the RHS wrestling team for the accomplishments this season. The team had three wrestlers competing at state. The team also was awarded the Hometown Youth Pride Award by the Robinson Chamber Commerce.

In regular business, the board approved a number of calendar dates, personnel assignments and a bid letting.

• Approved 2013-14 School Calendar - Institute Day, Aug. 19, and first day of student attendance Aug. 20.

• Approved the IHSA Renewal Agreement for RHS.

• Approved the Resolution to loan money from Working Cash to Education Fund.

• Approved the bid from Ambraw Asphalt for the WES driveway and parking lot rehabilitation project.

• Approved changing the date of the April board meeting to April 22.

• Approved the appointment of Teresa Gower to the Athletic Handbook Committee.

• Approved the eighth grade recognition night - May 21 at 6 p.m.

The board also upheld the decision of hearing officer to expel an RHS student for the remainder of 2012-13 school year and the 2013-14 school year, and hold expulsion in abeyance upon successful completion of the ROE 12 ASSIST program and principal's probation for the 2013-14 school year.

The next regular meeting will be Monday, April 22, at 7 p.m. at the Central Office.
